WHAT IS YOGA

The eight limbed path of yoga includes: Yama (moral codes), niyama (self-discipline), asana (postures), pranyama (breath practices promoting life force), pratyahara (sensory transcendence), dharana (concentration), dhyana (meditation), samadhi (state of bliss).

HOW DOES YOGA WORK

The mechanisms that make yoga a seemingly effective health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliation intervention are not entirely understood. Various researchers hypothesize that yoga works through positively affecting the nervous system, the cardiovascular system and gene expression

THE AYIUL

Association of Yoga instructors in Uganda ltd, this is an association of professional Yoga facilitators from different parts of Uganda who teach, share , the art and science of wellbeing using Yoga as a tool of transformation that takes meditation , Hatha yoga ,Yin yoga ,vinyasa, Ashtanga Yoga ,Children instrumental Yoga, using yoga positions for body alignments and other body physical benefits ,Pranayamas or Yogic breathing techniques to enhance the breathing system, and meditation for creating inner peace.

Spiritual traditions that begun in India about 5000 years ago. Historically its practices have been adopted by such religions as Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism. However, the practice of Yoga is compatible with any religion, as well as atheism. The word Yoga means UNION in Sanskrit. Many of the yoga traditions believe that the practice of yoga leads to the Union of a person with his or her true nature, the Universe or God (however one wishes to conceptualize it) .How this is interpreted and the means employed to get there differs in the various yoga traditions.

Stress reduction Arguably the most comprehensive method of stress –reduction ever developed is yoga it offers numerous tools to shift the balance of automatic nervous system to the parasympathetic side, calming the mind and lowering the levels of stress hormones such as cortisol. Psychological benefits of YOGA include relaxation, greater equanimity, concentration, and improved mood. Physically creates, flexibility, balance, tones muscles and builds strength in through its physical practices called the Asans that focus on different parts of the body through well designed and mind full workout sequences.

Aims And Objectives of the association of yoga instructors in Uganda

As a Uniting organization of Yoga Teachers in different parts of the country, to set up and uphold the highest standard country wide for wellness workshops and classes to the communities in the public, individuals , cooperates , institutions and companies.

To promote Yoga in Uganda with the aim of promoting knowledge, competence, self-awareness, health and wellbeing amongst the public.
To provide through it’s highly trained teachers, information and education about health, self-healing, concentration in respect to the good practice of Yoga and its other health benefits.
To provide and promote required continuous Professional Development for Yoga Teachers countrywide for the ongoing benefits of YOGA practices to the public and other service users.
To constantly seek to broaden its promotional base for Yoga throughout UGANDA and act as a source of general information and reference for YOGA Teachers, the public, and other service users.
To promote the benefits of Yoga and continuously identify means by which more and better services can be offered to the general public and other service users.
